After graduating in 1955, I went to work in Salem for the "Civil Service Commission". I worked there until November, when I married Jack Tegland. We lived in Silverton for the next 4 years. Jack worked at the "Turkey Plant", "Broom Handle Plant", and farm jobs. During that time, we had 3 daughters: Jackie, Sandy, and Debbie.

In January of 1959, Jack went to work in Oregon City at "Publishers Paper Mill". In August of the same year we moved to West Linn. In 1961 and 1963, we had 2 more daughters: Teri and Kathy. In 1965, I went to work for "Pak Well Paper Co." in Milwaukee, and worked there until 1968 when Jack transferred from Oregon City to the Newberg Mill. In June of that year we moved to Newberg and we are still living here.

I went to work wrapping meat in our local locker plant. I worked there until 1968, when I went to beauty school. After getting my Beauticians license, I went to work at a beauty salon in McMinnville for a couple of years. Not for me. I went back to work at the locker plant for a few years. Took a year off, then went to work for a Japanese company "Dynic USA" in Hillsboro, where they make printer ribbon cartridges and thermal transfer ribbons. I retired from Dynic as a "Materials Supervisor" in 1998 after working there 10 years. Jack retired from the paper mill, also in 1998, where he worked for 39 1/2 years.

We now have 7 grandsons ranging from 11 to 26 years, and 1 granddaughter 9 years old. We also have 2 great grandsons: Brody turned 3 in October, and Zachary was just born July 13, 1999.

We are enjoying our retirement. Jack has always had a big garden, and how he has the time to work in it. In November of 1998, we went on a cruise through the Panama Canal. We stayed 3 extra days in Acapulco before returning home. It was wonderful. In June of 1999, we spent 2 weeks traveling through Nevada and Arizona. We don't have any travel plans for the future, other than camping in our motor home. I have recently started working part time at a meat locker in Dundee, OR. I work 2 or 3 days a week during their busy season. The busy season is about 2 1/2 months or so.
