After high school, I attended George Fox College for three years and graduated in 1959 from Mt. Angel College with a degree in Elementary Education. After teaching first grade for 2 years in Oak Grove Oregon, I married Jerry Magee who just graduated from dental school. We continued to live in Oak Grove until 1962, when we moved to Vancouver, Washington.
After teaching a year in Vancouver, our daughter Tami was born. Two years later, our daughter Liza was born. When the girls were in school, I did some substitute teaching, got my real estate license and ended up working as a receptionist in Jerry's dental office. In 1995, he retired and left me without a job!!
After living in the same home for 34 years, we have moved to a smaller house with much less yard work and upkeep.
We now have 5 grandchildren. The oldest just finished her freshman year in college (and is pictured above with Jerry and me). Our youngest grandchild will enter first grade in the fall.
We have enjoyed several wonderful trips through the years, and now are content to stay closer to home - with an occasional trip to sunshine in the Winter. We love spending time at our cabin on Swift Reservoir, where we fish, water ski, hike, look for unusual wild flowers, and enjoy the view of Mt. St. Helens. It is our place to relax and we are often accompanied by friends.
I stay busy helping my parents, participating in church activities, volunteering at our local hospital, and making quilts. I think quilt making has actually become an obsession! I often make quilts for gifts and also for "Cares Northwest", which is a child abuse service. With some family still in the Silverton area, we occasionally are in Silverton. We enjoy checking the progress of the new Silverton Gardens.
